I was just wondering if most models are single in Pakistan? I’ve read articles (Aminah Haq) about not being in any hurry to marry. But I was wondering if there are any married models and if there is pressure to discontinue their profession once married? Isn’t Natasha married and has a daughter?Does anyone have info on other married models?
top models like Iraj, vaneeza ahmad, ZQ, Amna haq, Amna shafaat etc all are single.
There are few married models and there have also been in the past but they are very few in numbers.
Natasha Hussain is probably the only top model at present who is married, before here i remeber there use to be Seemi Pasha who was married (as i recall she was a catwalk model till her 40s because she maintained herself physically) i remember her one interview on TV sometimes back that she has two sons both in their 20s. She also did some acting on TV too, i am not sure if she still does that or not.
Than there is Mahnoor Baloch who is also a actress cum model she is also married and i think she is mother of two or three.
Almost all models discontinue after their marriage mainly becasue modelling in Pakistan is a hobbie not a profession mainly because fashion industry is not a very big one. All of the models belong to rich families here you wont find one “rag to riches” type models like you would find in the USA or Europe.
Well what you have said is correct but there is one more thing i think we are ignoring. If we look at the Pakistani Fashion scene most of the top models are over 25 years old. In Pakistani society normally a girl is married mostly between 23-25 years of age, so by that standard almost all of these girls are past their prime regarding the marriage age.
Zainab Qayyum is about 26 years old, Amna Shafaat is also up or around 25, i also know Iraj Manzoor has turned 30 (i know for sure coz she was in college with my sister) and vaneeza is no baby either ….. from looking at this it seems like that it has become a sort of trend for models to marry late.
About Aminah Haq’s situation i doubt that the case would be the one which you have put forward, because she is not a girl sitting home with no idea of the outside world, she has a graet career and lots of exposure to the outside world(much more than many men even double her age) ….. i guess maybe till now she just hasnt found the right person to tie the knot with or maybe she isnt ready to quit her career and get married yet.
